| | Seeing my family this Father's Day was extra special because we hadn't had a full get together with my dad's side in a while.
"Wow, my Jacob, it has been a long time since I have seen you. Since then, I wanted to see you very much," said my grandpa. This statement really broke my heart. I told him that I would visit on my own in the future.

"Grandpa's never going to die," blurted Deborah, "I'm so excited!"

I did something that I normally don't do; I took the time to find out more about my family. Upon asking when my grandparents' birthdays were, I found out that my granpda was 17 years older than my grandma. I'm pretty sure that their marriage was arranged like my parents', but a firey curiosity erupted when I found out their age difference. How did this fall into play? How old was grandma when she got married? What was their relationship like when they were only halfway done with their lives?

"This is so convenient. How do you extract the paper?" my grandpa asked while playing with Deborah's iPhone. He was asking how the pictures on the phone get printed. My grandpa had the finger swipe down like a pro- he quickly caught on how to scroll through photos on her iPhone!
I was just reminded that my mom asked me to make one more goal in life: to digitize a BOX full of tape recordings of my grandpa's sermons when he was a pastor.
